Needless to say I was so inspired. I figured if my dad could have such incredible results and increased vitality at age 50, then if I started eating and working out like him, by 50 I could be practically invincible!

A year had passed since I had visited home and seen my family and I was shocked by my dad’s transformation. Now, he has been on a rather long health jourey I might say, juicing, clean eating, following the Gerson Theory etc.

But this time I saw him was very different, I was welcomed by my 50-year-old father being 30 pounds lighter and radiating an energy that I truly can’t put into words. Not only that, at 50-years-old, he had just completed a full marathon (meanwhile I’m maxed out at 3 miles).

The first few days back home I was in complete awe of how he would go for a run and I’d ask him how long he ran and he’d say, “Oh just a short run, maybe 5-6 miles”. Short?!

Needless to say I was so inspired. I figured if my dad could have such incredible results and increased vitality at age 50, then if I started eating and working out like him, by 50 I could be practically invincible!

So I told my dad I’m in! School me up on what it is you’ve been doing and get me on the program too. My dad agreed and the first step was to download  the ebook “Prof. Arnold Ehret’s Mucusless Diet Healing System: Annotated, Revised, and Edited by Prof. Spira” to my Kindle app and read up to Chapter 5.

Reading up to chapter 5 gives you the basic theory and logic of the Mucusless Diet and I highly recommend it. Without reading this I don’t think I would understand nor be able to maintain this diet.

I am currently on a mucus-lean transition diet (with a few of my own personal modifications), meaning all the foods I’m eating are not deemed mucus-less but the have low to none mucus-forming properties.

Results? In 2 weeks or so I’ve dropped 10 pounds, I have A LOT more energy, I am able to do the same exercise as before (many would think I’d feel weak or not “fueled” enough), and I am randomly more flexible (also something that happened to my dad).

How is this possible? Honestly y’all I am no where near qualified to explain Prof. Ehret’s theory, all I will say is that modern-day Western eating habits are killing us and if your health is a priority you’ve got to free yourself from the “standard” diet and thoughts about food. Get the book! This is not sponsored!

To be honest I’m still in the very early stages of this diet and there are a lot of changes to come as well as ups and downs I’m sure.

An average day of what I eat looks like this:

Breakfast– Fresh squeezed OJ and a bowl of chopped papaya

Lunch– A piece of fresh fruit followed by a salad made of mixed greens, red leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, spring onions, cherry tomatoes, hemp seeds  and avocado with fresh lemon juice and olive oil as dressing. If still hungry I wait 10-15 minutes and have very toasted toast or I make some sort of savory pancake or falafel using chickpea flour.

Dinner– Roasted cabbage (Cut a head of red or green cabbage in half, place one half face-down on a piece of foil, oil the outer layer with olive oil and 0ven-roast that bad boy at 375-400 degrees for 70/75minutes). It’s so good!

Snack– Throughout the day I drink herbal teas (I do sweeten some with raw honey), and sometimes for an after dinner yummy I eat dried fruit, nuts and dark chocolate.

Don’t be discourage if you are thinking this meal plan sounds boring or extreme. I thought the same thing and it wasn’t until I read the book and started the diet with fasting (a huge part of this diet, all explained thoroughly in Ehret’s book). But what is extreme is the average American diet full of fast foods, packaged snacks, too much salt, and loads of sugar and gluten.

I am not a doctor nor nutritionist and am not licensed to give medical advise. Just thought I’d share something pretty amazing in my life right now!

Anyone else out there trying to eat mucus-less? Let me know in the comments section.
